Technical Documentation Development
Technical Documentation Development
LES has an experienced team of professional and technical personnel who have authored quality, project and technical documentation, such as:
- Company Operating Procedures for the certification of components for a major Defence capital acquisition.
- Repair and maintenance manuals including illustrated parts manuals. The projects included the investigation of maintenance and repair requirements, and the development and validation of techniques required to document the maintenance requirements of an item or equipment throughout its service life.
LES has digitised existing technical documentation to produce electronic versions for access on stand-alone PCs, WAN, LAN and the Internet.
Case Study - Australian Defence Force (ADF)
Development of Technical Instructions and Illustrated Parts Manuals for the In-service Repair and Maintenance of the Australian Defence Force's New Training Weapon
Overview
LES was tasked to research and develop a suite of technical instructions detailing the technical data, inspection and examination criteria and repair techniques for the Rifle, 5.56mm F88T, on behalf of ADI Limited. Illustrated parts manuals were developed as a Repair Parts Identification List (RPIL) in accordance with DEF(AUST) 5629A.
Achievements
LES delivered the finished product to ADI Limited on time and under budget. The technical instructions and RPIL were delivered complete and ready for issue and were accepted by the Commonwealth without any requirement for rework. The cooperative approach adopted by LES, ADI Limited and the Commonwealth assured that the finished product met all requirements and that techniques developed as part of the project were directly transferable for use in technical documentation for similar equipment.
LES has also provided technical authors direct to the Commonwealth working on-site to meet critical deadlines for the production of technical manuals. LES was also called upon to revise an Australian Airforce Publication (AAP) incorporating updated Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) data and re-formatting existing documentation to meet the current RAAF requirements.
Further Development
LES continue to develop technical documentation for clients including Manufacturers Recommended Spares List (MRSL), RPIL and technical wall charts for training purposes.
