Logistic Engineering Services Training - LEST
LES and LEST use MindManager throughout the company to plan projects, develop strategies and documentation, develop lesson plans and competencies along with a whole range of other tasks. LEST teaches the MindManager software that fully integrates with MS Office Applications, including MS Project, MS Outlook and MS Visio.

MM 6 Pro is sells for about $490 (GST Inclusive) but this price fluctuates with the US currency, so please be sure to call and get a quote before you place your order. Significant discounts are available to volume purchases and further discounts apply to Training when the software is purchased through LEST.

Courses
LEST runs courses for Mind Manager 6 Pro on a corporate basis providing high quality training to enterprise groups. LEST Mind Manager 6 Pro courses are run on the following basis:
- A Minimum course panel of 6 trainees is required for a course to be conducted.
- The Maximum number of trainees for each course is 14 trainees (dependant on venue)
- Course is provided for a per trainee course fee of $380 (discounts apply where the software is purchased from LEST)

LEST provides training at the user site or at Cliftons Training Centres throughout Australia.
Note 1: Onsite courses require a half day charged preparation and setup fee
Note 2: Courses provided at Cliftons are provided at venue cost plus trainee fees. Facilitator travel and accommodation charges are invoiced at cost and are quoted at the Government Non-SES rate.
- All training handouts and lesson materiels are provided and included in the course cost.

Mind Maps
Mind Maps are a powerful system for visualising and communicating information and imparting knowledge. Created by Tony Buzan, Mind Maps use visual cues and words in a graphical layout to express ideas and relationships that allow you to convey information that would normally take pages of text to express.

MindManager 6 Pro
MindManager by Mindjet is an approved visual project planning software tool (using Tony Buzan’s Mind Map Methodology). The software is designed to increase team and individual productivity. The MindManager product suite excels for front-end brainstorming and concept organisation, with an intuitive interface for quickly mapping out project components, thoughts and ideas. MindManager is the preferred Mind Mapping software tool of over over a million users worldwide.
Key Features
The real key to the MindManager software is in the visual intuitive ease of use that facilitates MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, MS Visio and MS Project. MindManager provides fully synchronisation with MS Outlook with one simple mouse click. Mind Manager can be directly exported to HTML to create professional looking web pages (“in seconds”) using the information you create in your mind map project.

The Bottom Line
Some of the most important functions carried out by the1400-person IT team at this large American energy supply company are run on an application managed by Timothy Bolwerk and his team of 15 developers. The software runs the IT department's call centre computers and is used to manage the department's assets, including the annual purchase of more than 9,000 PCs. Since he began using Mindjet's Mind Manager project-mapping software, Bolwerk has seen marked improvements in his ability to quickly:
- Take and distribute meeting notes
- Brainstorm project ideas, then put them into work breakdown structures
- Keep track of multiple project details
- Communicate with teams and senior management
"My business need is to service my 'customers' within my company's IT department," Bolwerk says. "What I deliver is IT capability. The quality of what I am able to deliver to my IT customers has gone up with Mind Manager. I can spend more time on IT projects, and less on administrative tasks like transcribing meeting notes, managing project details, and creating reports to send to my supervisors." "I used to get a lot of questions from IT staff," Bolwerk says. "I get fewer calls now. Now my customers say 'It's all clear from the maps. Keep 'em coming.' Get a Bird's Eye (or Worm's Eye) View
Bolwerk also says he likes the way the maps enable him to both gain a high-level view of his projects, and to easily drill down for details. "Losing track of the details will kill you. But it if you get bogged down in the details and lose sight of the big picture, you can get in trouble too. With Mind Manager, all that information is there in one map. How much detail you see depends on how many levels you choose to look at."
Bolwerk has one main map that shows all of his projects. Each project "branch" is a link to another map dedicated to individual projects. Starting with his main map, he can easily navigate to any project, and then to any detail of any project. He can also search or filter through all the maps at once to find, for example, a particular task, all the tasks assigned to one member of his team, or all tasks due on a certain day.
Communicate Concisely, Clearly and Easily
Throughout the project lifecycle, Bolwerk has found Mind Manager to be an effective communication tool. "Ninety-five percent of project managers are looking for ways to improve their soft skills. Project maps help because they provide a quick and easy way for project leaders to improve their communications." The maps, he says, are easy for him to create, easy for team members to understand, and communicate a great deal of information very concisely.
"I use Mind Manager at work almost exclusively," Bolwerk says. "It's my tool of choice. My boss and everyone else I work with like the mapping format because it helps them see understand where we are on any given project much quicker."
